Proper Care of Your Watch

To keep watch in good condition, you should observe following guidelines.

Moving machinery of mechanical watch, as any other, should be cleaned and lubricated about every 3-4 years and this should necessarily be executed in company service centers, specified in watch documents. Even the smallest dust can cause malfunction. Wind up watch only after you remove it from hand, to avoid uneven pressure on clock winder, as this is the most vulnerable place in watch. Winding up also should be done at the same time and only clockwise until it stops.

Quartz watch requires a little bit less care, but is also in need of cleaning and lubrication in company service centers around every 4-5 years. You also need to replace the battery after its expiry date. In fact, improper operation of the battery can break and destroy clockwork. Do not replace batteries independently, contact Service Center. If watch is waterproof, then after replacing the batteries, it should be tested for tightness and water resistance.

It should also be understood that water-resistant and waterproof watches are different things. Water-resistant watch can withstand some water, for example rain or hands washing, but long stay under water may damage mechanism.

For swimming and long stay under water they developed waterproof watch. It has threads on head and rear lid, and is fitted with protective pads, thus improving its security. We do not recommend intertwining head strongly, because you can damage threads, what can lead to leakage. It is also not recommended to switch on chronograph, when it is in water, because moisture can enter through buttons (this does not apply to a specially designed watch for diving). Because of pads wear, watch may lose tightness, so you need to inspect and replace old pads approximately every 2-3 years. The body of most watches has no magnetic protection; therefore, impact of electromagnetic field on watch is not desirable, as it may influence work of some parts. Therefore, do not leave watch near speaker systems and other sources of magnetic vibrations.
